Silo Electrical Services

During March 2012, Molec Electrical Contractors were involved in the electrical upgrade to the Silo Electrical Services to comply with current standards for Goodman Fielder - Pampas.

The requirement of this project was to inspect the existing installation and formulate a turnkey solution to upgrade the designated plant to comply with current legislation while the facility remained in full production and preserving the protocols required to operate in a food preparation environment.

This installation works consisted with mainly all Steel Wire Armour and Intrinsically Safe cables for use in Hazardous Dust environments classified as Zone21 and Zone22 and integrating 24Vdc equipment with an existing PLC which operated on a 240Vac system.

Works also included the installation of pneumatic actuators in the classified hazardous areas in lieu of non-compliant electrically operated actuators and valves.

Part of these works included developing a plan to facilitate working at heights over shared trafficable areas requiring the passage of delivery vehicles in order to keep the plant in full production.

Oaky Creek Coal Seam Methane Power Station 6MW Expansion Oaky Creek North, QLD

Molec performed the following work on this project on behalf of Clarke Energy Australia

  • Factory Fabrication and installation in Our Melbourne Workshop of all Cable, Cable Trays Switchboards and equipment for Two generator enclosures.
  • Fabricate & fit all cables and cable cores with identity tags to customers specifications
  • Test all cables and provide data sheets to customers requirements
  • Factory Test run all Fans dampers and motors before dispatch to site.
  • Liaise with all other trades to deliver the project in a practical manner.
  • Complete the project in a timely and efficient manner to enable CEA to finish the complete project ahead of schedule.

Australian Federal Police - Weston Data Centre Canberra - Emergency Generator Installation

Molec performed the following work on this project on behalf of Coote Energy:

  • Complete rewiring and additional modifications on a double-bus 415V, 2000A switchboard for controlling four 630A essential data-centre load circuits, a bus-tie, a 400kW load bank, and two Cummins 650kVA containerised (outdoor) generator sets, with provision for a third generator set. The switchboard contained automatic ComAp controllers for selecting either the mains supply or generators for powering the four load circuits.
  • Most of the 2000A copper busbar was removed for cleaning due to tarnishing through a sulphuric acid spill at the place of manufacture of the switchboard.
  • Modifications were performed to the generator on-board controls to facilitate interfacing with the controllers in the double-bus switchboard.
  • An outdoor control box was built and installed for a 10kL automatic bulk refuelling system for filling the generator 900L onboard tanks from the bulk tank.
  • A new metering switchboard (between the ActewAGL substation and double-bus switchboard) was installed to replace an existing metering board, performed in a single day as part of an extensive cutover plan for the essential load circuits between an original switchboard and the new double-bus switchboard.
  • Assistance was provided with commissioning the installation up to the point of final cutover.

Our hazardous area electrical contractors performed the following work on this project on behalf of Clarke Energy Australia

  • Factory Fabrication and installation of all Cable, Cable Trays Switchboards and equipment in CEA'sAdelaide workshop.
  • Fabricate & fit all cables and cable cores with identity tags to customers specifications
  • Test all cables and provide data sheets to customers requirements
  • Completion of onsite installation at Glenfield,Liverpool, Warriewood and Wollongong NSW.
  • Liaise with all other trades at our clients workshop location & onsite to deliver the project in a practical manner.

Braemer Power Station - TwoSea Containerised 635kVA Emergency Diesel Generator Sets

Molec performed the following work on this project for Coote Energy:

  • Supply and installation of all internal electrical power and control cabling inside the sea containers, including outgoing generator power cabling, standard and emergency lighting, GPOs, and control cable interfacing the engine controls with a separate 415V control switchboard inside the container.
  • Installing and terminating a control switchboard inside the container.
  • Performing and testing various design modifications required on the switchboard to achieve the required functionality.
  • Supply and connection of a load bank for factory acceptance and witness testing of the generator sets, and assisting with various aspects of the commissioning, factory acceptance testing, and witness testing of the generator sets.
